Paying for college is one of the biggest concerns most families have when considering college.  Well consider this, financial aid for all.

4 Types of Federal Grants
 
  1. Federal Pell Grant
  2. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
  3. Academic Competitiveness
  4. National SMART Grant

These grants are available to undergraduate students and do not have to be repaid

The school acts as the Department of Educations agent

Need based Grants for Maryland Students

Guaranteed Access Grant
This is a need based grant for undergraduate full-time students with a maximun award or $14,800 yearly. 
You may only apply as a high school senior using the FASFA and OSFA method.

Educational Assistance Grant
This is a need based Grant for  full time undergraduate students with a maximum award of $3,000 yearly
FASFA required
Part Time Grant
This is a need based grant for part time undergraduate students with a maximum award of $2,000 yearly.
FASFA required, also cantact your schools financial aid office
Dual Enrollment Grant
This is a need based grant for part time undergraduate students with a maximum award of $1,000 yearly.
You should contact the financial aid office at your school
Graduate and Professional Scholarship Program
This is a need based grant for full and part time graduate students with a maximum award of $5,000 yearly.

Paying for College
(FAFSA Submission)
 
Almost all financial aid begins with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
 
This form is required for all Federal Student Loans and many college aid programs, including some scholarships.  You can file the FAFSA form starting in January for the upcoming Fall academic semester
 
Here is what you will need to complete your FAFSA:
  • Tax returns
  • W-2 forms
  • Bank statements
  • Social Security and VA Benefits, if any
 
(Remember that unless you are considered an independant student you will need the tax information of your legal guardians.)
